If this is your first appointment please be at least 15 minutes early for paperwork and introductions. Otherwise, arrive 5 minutes prior to the appointment start time. Once completed you’ll be taken back to a private treatment room where we will discuss your goals, professional boundaries, and how we can best customize your session. Then I will step out of the room while you undress to your comfort level and tuck yourself under the sheets. You will be draped with linens and a blanket the entire session for privacy and warmth.
After a few minutes I will knock on the door before re-entering the room. Upon entry I will check that you are as comfortable and secure as possible before beginning the hands-on portion. During the massage you are welcome and encouraged to communicate any preferences or end the session at any time. I will continue to check in periodically to assure that you feel safe and supported.
At the end of the massage I will step out of the room and wait for you to open the door once you are dressed. To finish the appointment I will give you feedback on any observations and recommended self-care. It is generally advised to stay hydrated and get extra rest for the following two days after you get bodywork.

It ultimately depends on your comfort level! Keep in mind your therapist may have to modify their technique but your preferences are the top priority. My recommendations are listed below for some specific modalities:
Craniosacral Therapy; Undergarments are not required but will provide an additional level of security with range of motion techniques. If fully dressed please wear loose fitting garments.
Myofascial Release; This can be done through clothing but is more effective applied directly to the treatment areas.
Lomi-inspired Swedish; Minimal garments would provide the best opportunity for continuity of massage strokes. If partially dressed please be aware that oil may cause minor staining of clothing.
Prenatal; This is completely up to your comfort level. For first trimester the massage will not change much from a typical Swedish treatment. For second or third trimesters we will utilize a side-lying position.
Sports Massage; Since this style of massage incorporates stretching throughout, please wear athletic attire that allows for full range of motion. It is not required to stay dressed but it is recommended.

This varies by the individual. For timing, typically a 60 minute appointment is a good starting point but I almost always find that 90 minutes allows for a more personalized experience. A 120 minute session is best for slow, specific full-body work.
As for modality, benefits will vary individually based on areas of concern, health conditions, and overall lifestyle. The Services page has more information on specific modalities. If you still have questions please fill out the contact form below and let’s talk!

While it is standard to tip in the service industry, I intentionally set my prices with a livable wage in mind. That being said, all tips will go towards a donation fund for clients that are experiencing financial hardship. Thank you for your generosity!
